Middle School Student Success

Since 1991, Dr. Davenport has been helping students successfully navigate middle school. He can help your student too!

More than tutoring, coaching, and “study skills training,” Student Success is a research-based cognitive-behavioral approach that helps your student improve his or her executive functioning skills: sustained attention, organization, time management, planning, prioritizing, task initiation, self-monitoring, and response inhibition.

How Student Success Works

Through direct instruction and hands-on practice, your student will learn how to use active and research-based tools and strategies to improve his or her executive functioning and associated learning difficulties.

During our first session, your student’s executive skill strengths and needs are identified using our research-based questionnaire and initial interview. Based on his or her needs, we’ll set specific goals for your student’s success. We’ll also talk about how his or her strengths, values, and motivations will be incorporated.

During each following session, one of your student’s specific executive functioning needs is addressed, your student’s related learning and living challenges are identified, new skills are learned, and plans to implement strategies are made.

Between sessions, your student will practice the new strategies he or she has learned in order to address real-life everyday needs. At the beginning of the next session, we evaluate his or her progress, celebrate successes, and solve any problems with implementing his or her plan.

Over time your student develops skills to solve problems and begin to take control of his or her future!
