Parent Training

The primary objectives of research-proven parent training include increasing parental knowledge and understanding of ADD/ADHD and its effects on behavior and teaching  parents  strucuted behavioral management techniques to address problems in “real-time.”  Ultimately, the goal of this training is to provide a set of parenting skills that will lead to less stress and more harmony within the family. 

Specific training steps include:

  1. Effects of ADD/ADHD on Behavior
  2. Understanding Parent-Child Relationships
  3. Understanding Principals of Behavior Management
  4. Enhancing Positive Attending Skills
  5. Giving More Effective Instructions and Commands
  6. Establising a Home Token System
  7. Using Response-Cost
  8. Using Time-Out from Reinforcement
  9. Extending Time-Out to Other Misbehavior
  10. Managing Children’s Behavior in Public
  11. Planning for and Handling Future Behavior Problems

Booster sessions are provided as necessary.
